I recently found Black Cherry Nails in New West...Coriana does custom press on nails for Drag and cosplay (as well as for us CD'ers). She also does custom gloves if you don't want to attach your nails. She's been featured on Drag Race Canada (on Gia Metric) and has a fantastic attitude for people like us.
I booked a private fitting with her at her studio on 6th Street. I discussed the kinds of nails I wanted originally via email and she offered to do a fitting session (for free!) so that we could properly measure my nails. I was concerned she wouldn't have wide enough nail blanks for my hands but it turns out my fingers are pretty average and she can sculpt a wider nail if necessary. During the fitting session, I also got to try on different lengths and styles of nails which was a fun experience in itself.
Her prices are comparable to getting a proper set of acrylics done (which you can also do if you're able to go more permanent) - a simple set in red cost me $65 that were 2XL stilettos with the french fade (pink/white) being $100 due to length and extra work. The custom gloves start at $100 and up depending on what you want done. Check out her instagram for more photos and inspiration.
If you've ever wanted a set of SUPER high quality nails that are reusable, this is the place to go (she also ships across Canada).
These aren't your drugstore press-ons - proper gel nails with multiple coats, custom fitted for your hands - these won't flex or fold like cheap plastic nails do. I can safely say that I've never had a better quality set of nails.
I'll post a bunch of photos in the next post (members only and all that).
